Payment for Home Care Services
We are bonded, insured and fully accredited, meeting or exceeding local, state and Joint Commission standards and requirements. We provide the best quality health care providers. It is very important that costs and methods of payment are discussed before contracting with us to avoid unexpected costs. You are billed directly on a weekly basis for the companion or nursing services. Payment is expected once you receive the invoice. Payment may be in the form of a check or credit card. We do not accept third party payments or bill your health insurance carrier or Medicare.
You are responsible to us for your bill. Your check is made out to Chesapeake Medical Staffing – not to your care provider. Your care provider remains our employee and is paid by us. We withhold appropriate taxes for our W2 employees including state, federal, social security and Medicare deductions. We provide workman’s compensation and malpractice insurance for every employee. We strive to provide a comfortable environment in which you do not have to discuss salary or billing with your care provider. Volume discounts for care may be available in certain circumstances. You may speak with a home care finance specialist at our office to discuss rates at any time.
We make it easy for you to change your mind. You may cancel your care provider with absolutely no financial penalty as long as you give us a minimum of two hours notice before the scheduled shift. Usually we require a minimum of four hours to contract a home care provider. You may contact your insurance provider directly for specific coverage information, including criteria, deductibles, and co-pays. We will be happy to help you with this process upon request.
Commercial Insurance/ Long Term Care Insurance - In most cases, home care services are not covered by health insurance. Some insurance plans will cover home care services when there is an established “medical necessity” or if you doctor orders “skilled nursing care.” The RN Case Manager is available to assist you to help ascertain if your commercial health insurance or long term care policy will cover any portion of home care payment.
Medicaid/Medical Assistance – The Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) provides Medical Assistance, also called Medicaid, coverage to individuals determined to be categorically eligible or medically needy. The program does not have provisions for private home care at this time.
U.S. Veteran's Benefits - U.S. Veteran's Benefits may have limited provisions for home care. You may contact a representative from the Veteran’s Association to discuss options.
Your Out-Of-Pocket Costs - Typically, you (or you family) are directly responsible to pay for most private home care costs. We are happy to work with you to identify the easiest and least stressful, billing and payment plan.
